Frequently Asked Questions about PPF

PPF stands for Paint Protection Film this refers to  a transparent, durable film applied to a vehicle’s surfaces to protect against scratches, stone chips, swirl marks and other daily wear-and-tear.

Although ceramic and other coatings protect paint, they do not protect from physical damage like PPF does.

Absolutely! Yorkshire isn’t well known for good weather which is even more reason to get your car coated with PPF.

Although Bradford’s roads are relateively well maintained, there can be a lot of debris & stones on the road that can cause stone chips to the front and side of your vehicle. If this is PPF coated then any scratches would be avoided and can be self-healed.

PPF cost in the UK can depend on a number of different factors:

  • Location – as with most things, price can vary depending on where you live and the average salary in your area. The south of England tends to be more expensive whilst the North cheaper.
  • PPF Quality – although many films are pretty similar, the quality, thickness & spec of the PPF can make a difference to the cost of the job.
  • Installer – the experience level of the installer has a large impact on the cost of PPF installation. A veteran PPF installer may charge more than a new player. However – with some basic training – PPF is a very forgiving material and can be relatively straight forward to install
  • Car condition – If the car is mint condition with no need for polishing prior to PPF install then labour can be a lot cheaper. However if a car needs heavy decontamination & polishing/paint correction prior to install then this can cost more.

PPF is physical protection and ceramic coating is hardened chemical protection.

Both have unique propteries however, PPF can be ceramic coated after install which provides the glossy finish of ceramic with the protection & self-healing of PPF.

Different types & brands of PPF last different amounts of time. It’s hard to accurately say but between 5-10 years is usual longevity.

Our PPF is warranty-certified for 10 years – any issues with peeling/yellowing are covered and will be replaced as long as proper maintenance has occured.

Installation depends on package selected amd if polishing is needed, but usual install times are:

Front-End – 2-3 days

Track-Pack – 3-4 days

Full-Car – 4-7 days

In short, YES! It’s a fantastic barrier and can even protect against minor scrapes/accidents.

The amazing thing is that if any light scratches occur, you can heat the PPF and it is self-healing and will fix itself!

Absolutely! the main thing to consider when PPF’ing a older car is the condition of the original paintwork.

If the paintwork needs polishing and has scratches/damage then the PPF will reduce visbility, but not completely hide any imperfections.

Thefore more preparation may be needed for older cars.

PPF can come in a range of finishes & colours.

Our main PPF products are:

  • Clear Gloss – Normal paint gloss finish
  • Clear Satin – this will change paint to satin

However, we do offer PPF in any colour you can think of but this comes at an increased price.

The goals of the two materials are very different:

PPF aims to protect and add durability to car surfaces.

Vinyl is purely aesthetics and changing the look/feel of a car.

PPF is usually more expensive than vinyl wrap as a material, however it is sometimes easier to install.

As PPF can come in different colours – PPF is the better option for those looking to change aesthetics of a car without compromising on protection.

Our PPF has anti-yellowing technology to prevent it from going yellow or peeling.

However, some lower quality PPF’s may be affected. This often depends on the quality of PPF, weather conditions & maintenance schedule.

However, all installs come with a 10 year warranty for peace of mind against yellowing & peeling.
