CASE STUDY - TOBACCO SMELL REMOVAL IN AUDI S3.

An owner contacted us with a pressing issue regarding the tobacco smell in his Audi S3.

The vehicle had developed a persistent odour, and he urgently needed a deep clean to eliminate the smell from the interior.

Ozone treatment was the perfect solution for the job, effectively neutralising the odour and leaving the car fresh and clean.

An ozone treatment machine placed inside the interior of an Audi, emitting ozone to neutralise odours and sanitise the vehicle, set against a clean and professional car detailing environment.

The car was thoroughly cleaned from top to bottom, with a detailed hoovering, wet vacuuming, and steam cleaning to remove any settled tar or nicotine.

To tackle the persistent odour, the car was treated with two ozone sessions using a 35,000 Mg/Hr ozone generator, ensuring a fresh, odour-free interior.

Ozone treatment is a highly effective way to combat odours and mould in cars.

The ozone gas penetrates deep into vents, fabrics, and other hard-to-reach places, neutralising odour-causing molecules.

Because a car is a sealed environment, ozone treatment achieves a high concentration for optimal results.

For the best outcome, ozone treatment should be combined with thorough detailing and deep cleaning to remove physical sources of dirt and grime.

YES! Ozone can penetrate deep into fibres and surfaces and react with smelly tobacco/nicotine residue that causes the odour we all know.

It is important to deep clean any physical grime/staining before treating with Ozone, however it is a very effective way of reducing & removing the smell of smoke/tobacco from cars.

Misuse or prolonged use of an Ozone generator can lead to damaging a cars interior as it is a highly reactive gas that can react with certain materials like plastic and rubber.

However, this is usually in extreme cases where the use of Ozone was far past manufacturers recommended exposure time.

Most Ozone sessions usually last around 10-20 minutes at a time and any reaction with car interior materials is monitored and risk minimised.

Accidents can happen, which is why it is important to rely on professional services to accurate predict Ozone exposure time per m/Sq.

Ozone is great for removing any type of smell but it’s great for things like

  • Smoke/Tobacco
  • Mould/Mildew/Musty Odours
  • Pet Odours
  • Body Odour
  • Fuel/Oil Odour
  • Food/Drink Spills
  • Overused perfume/Air Freshener

As mentioned, anything that smells..it can be used!

Ozone although good at it removing smells, it must be managed with care as it can be harmful to humans/plants/animals.

Precautions must be taken when using Ozone generators:

  • The car must be sealed from outside to ensure the Ozone does not escape into the air.
  • Distance must be kept from the car being treated at all times and the car must be empty.

Ozone generally has a half-life of around 10 minutes. This means that any Ozone will disspate very quickly.

After treatment, the car will be left for a period of time with windows/doors open to allow the excess Ozone to escape. it is generally harmless when mixed with fresh air outside but precatutions are taken when treatment has finished. e.g. opening windows with car key whilst maintaining distance.
